Keep Your Money in your Community
05/30/2015
With St Louis Alive Magazine celebrating St Louis with We Heart STL awards and the weather getting nicer everyday it only seems right to celebrate a couple of the many boutiques we have right here.  I am big on the importance of keeping your money in your community and to do that you need to shop and eat at locally owned and operated business.  The small business owner is struggling and they need our support to keep their doors open.  What would neighborhoods like the CWE, Clayton or Historic St Charles be like without small local shops? These types of communities are found all over the United States like where I am from Naperville, IL and Chicago.  On weekends the streets are full of people from young families to chic women picking up one of a kind boutique.
There are woman meeting for brunch to retired couples enjoying the activity at side walk cafes it is a city lifestyle in the middle of the suburbs. The variety of shops and restaurants gives you months of visits and shopping without ever getting bored or tired of the same old thing.  The best part is the people they are diverse and interesting, I can spend hours just watching and listening.  I have teenage daughters so it can be hard to get a chance to spend time with them just talking and reconnecting so as soon as the weather gets nice I wake one of them up early to go for breakfast and spend the day walking around these great neighborhoods and do a little shopping.  I always say 'I'm not buying anything we are just window shopping' and every time I come home with several bags but its ok I got to enjoy them and find out what is going on in their lives.

Here are some of my favorite finds

Trina Turk Rainbow Sweater Dress from Ivy Hill Boutique beside the obvious I love this dress because my husband and I went out to lunch and of course went 'window shopping'. I saw it and of course I fell in love with it but I really didn't need it.  He went back and bought it for me.

As soon as I saw this I had to have it, I am obsessed with the 60's and anything that Twiggy or Mia Farrow would wear.  Between the cut out at the neckline to the open back it is edgy but simple. I picked this up at 10Denza between my oldest daughter and myself we have a slight problem with that store, we LOVE everything including items for my husband.

Me and my Trina Turk and Rainbow Stripes I think I may like them, I picked this one up at Ivy Hill for a trip to Puerto Vallarta.  I always get compliments on this dress.
