Parisian women don't wear head to toe designer clothes, seriously do you know how expensive it is to live in Paris but they actually think it's offensive to display wealth. She is more likely to brag about an amazing deal she got from a flea market rather than a Birkin bag. The rule is one ‘luxury’ item mixed with inexpensive pieces, which makes the idea of designer clothes more at obtainable and not just for the 1% (don't forget about resale or consignment stores, a great way to pick up high end designer clothes on a J. crew budget). That one piece will elevate the other pieces just make sure the fit is right. Her other secret is a good tailor on speed dial. I have inexpensive clothes fitted to me and it may seem like over kill but it will change your life. A great fit reads expensive, even if I only paid $30.00 for it.  This is a great tip for your LBD but make sure you are buying good quality fabrics. 

This is the only way you will see me wear sweats, even just sitting around my house. After I had my daughter my mom told me to never wear sweats, sweats grow with you and before you know it you've gained 15 lbs. She is very wise.
