Hyaluronic acid has become the ingredient for anti aging as well as being the key ingrediant in rejuvaderm. The claim is it can repair collagin which is a major cause of aging. We actually start losing collagen and elactisty in our skin at age 18. Smoking and sun damage also contribute to loss of collagen. When used to 'fill' smile lines in products like Rejuvaderm the results can last up to one year but how does it work if you apply it topically.
Hyaluronic acid works by drawing moisture into your skin and trap it in your skin which can make your skin look younger and plumps skin to soften lines. Topically it has been used to heal skin from cuts to rashes. We know when it is injected into lines on our face or on our lips that the hyaluronic acid plumps your skin so you would think it would give similair results when applied topically. I just recently purchased this so I can't give you my typical 8 week results but I have done a lot of research.
Hyaluronic acid can not reach deep layers in our skin due to the molecule size. It's just too big to penetrate your skin to have any 'real' effects. So now I have hit on all the reasons not to invest in this lets switch gears a little. Using hyaluronic acid can temporarily minimize fine lines and wrinkles so I will keep it on hand for when I want to look a bit more freshened up but I don't believe it will have any long term effects. Save your money don't buy high end products instead look for something that is a bit more cost friendly. I choose Cosmedica Pure Hyaloronic Acid for 14.95 at Amazon.
