Getting into the spirit of the upcoming We Heart STL Friday May 29th, 2015 brought to you by ALIVE Magazine and one of the amazing partners this year, Cruzan Rum here is my Blueberry Basil Rum Daiquiri.  Tuesday look for your opportunity to win 2 tickets to We Heart STL right here!

Blueberry and Basil Daiquiri

1 oz of coconut Cruzan Rum
2 oz of white Cruzan Rum
1 cup blueberries
3 basil leaves
lime wedge
*1/2 oz simple syrup
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
crushed Ice

Muddle blueberries, lime wedge and basil in tin mixing cup for 2 minutes. Add Cruzan Coconut Rum, Cruzan White Rum, lime juice and *simple syrup.  Shake vigorously for 2 minutes and strain into tulip glass filled with crushed ice.  Garnish with basil sprig and fresh blueberries.

*Simple Syrup 1 part water 2 parts white sugar. Bring water to a boil add sugar remove from heat and before it get too thick and stir.  As it cools it thickens.

Alternate Frozen Blueberry Basil Daiquiri

1 cup Frozen Blueberries
1 oz coconut Cruzan Rum
2 oz white Cruzan Rum
1/2 oz *simple syrup
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 cup crushed ice
1 basil leaf
Put all ingredients into a blender and mix until blended smooth. Pour into a Tulip glass and granish with basil sprig.
