What I Wore To Fashion Week
11/05/2015

What I Wore To STLFW

The Caleres Emerging Designer Award Show

Union Station

St Louis, MO

11*04*2015

Occasion: St Louis Fashion Week

Style: Minimalist

Trend: Double Split Midi Dress and Statement Crystal Long Earing

Style Tip: Keep it simple by only adding one statement peice. My 'signature' look something masculine (oxford shoes) and adding something edgier (ear cuff). It is imortant to have a signature look/peice that is found in everything you wear.

Beauty Look:

Hair

It starts with a great haircut. If you live in St Louis I HIGHLY recommend Shawn at Studio 703 in Chesterfield, I use to go back to Chicago for haircuts and may be a little picky so when I say I recommend him its because he is really that good.

All I had to do was add a molding paste to the roots and pull it up into a low key faux mohawk then use a firm hold hairspray to give it more lift as well as set it. I did not blow dry or use any heat tools, like I said it starts with a good haircut

Makeup

Prep your skin, I spend twice as much time on skin care then applying makeup. Makeup can not give you beautiful skin, the more you try to 'cover up' flaws the more you actually highlight them.

Exfoliate your skin including your lips dead skin can not be fixed. I use a DIY scrub that I will post later that I really like and you probably have everything you need in your kitchen to make it.

Vitamin C serum I love Flavo C it is a Parisian cult classic and has caffene in it so it will increase blood flow giving you a youthful glow.

Facial oil, oil's go deeper into your skin and give you a more luminus glow, that lit from with in. I make my own with jojoba oil and geranium oil (a few other oils too). I let it soak in for 20 minutes as a moisture mask and wipe off anything that didn't soak in. I will post the recipe this weekend

I use a little pure hyaluronic acid and tap it into any fine lines its only temporary fix but it works

I am not a makeup person and as I get older I just find myself using less, makeup ages you so for special events I still use my 5 minute makeup look but make it a bit more polished

I always use a primer even if I am not going to wear tinted moisturizer/foundation and I like to use a radiant primer like Laura Mercier primer in Radiance

Since it is a more formal night event I switch out my typical tinted moisturizer for a sheer foundation like Nars Sheer Glow Foundation with a little Benefit High Beam Highlighter. It brightens your skin with the pick hue and does not have glitter in it so it just gives you a nice subtle glow. I apply with a damp sponge to keep it sheer and even.

I tightline my top lashes to define them without having it look like I did anything.

Curling your lashes is a must it will open up your eyes and switched out my brown mascara for a black mascara

Defining your brows is a must but you don't want to over do it. If you have dark brows use a pencil/powder in a shade lighter then your natural color and if you brows are light use a color a shade darker. Use a highliting pencil and highlight the entire brow, I like to highlight the top of the brow slighter higher then the actual brow to give a little lift.

Concealer under the eye in a pinkish hue just on the dark line under the puffiness. If you highlight the puffy part they will look even bigger and that is no bueno

A little cream blush, Bobbi Brown Fresh Melon on the apples of my cheeks. Go easy you don't want to put too much on.

Finally a little lipstick, at my age nude lipstick is a bad idea you want to create definition becuase you are losing that natural color you had at 20. I love this It Cosmetics lip stick in Daring it is a 'Nude' color for women over 40.
